Soccer Girl

With lots of "encouragement", we talked Hannah into playing on a Kindergarten soccer team at her school. She wasn't too thrilled with the idea because she had never played before and was scared. However, Tony and I decided to sign her up anyways because it would give her an opportunity to meet/play with new friends and learn a little about teamwork and practicing. (We also thought it would be a good opportunity for us to meet parents too).

The first practice (back during the very beginning of school) was rough at first. She wouldn't even go on the field with the other kids. So we did what any good parent does and we bribed her with ice cream. It worked!! She practiced with the team and loved it!

While she's not the best player on the team...and will quite frequently run away from the ball, she is still having fun and making progress. She even averages about 3 kicks a game!

Here is a picture from her very first practice (yay! She's smiling)! And the other is their recent team picture :)

Where did summer go?

So here I am again...only now it's August. I had intended to update the blog all summer, but time once again got away from me. This is my favorite time of the whole year. Summer means I get to spend all day with my girls playing together and hanging out. And playing is exactly what we did...

I learned fairly quickly that my girls do better with a little bit of a schedule. So every week we had certain things to look forward to that was consistent.

On Monday we typically run errands or visit a special place...like the Science Museum where we went today!

Tuesdays are saved for the zoo and then the girls get to pick a place to eat for lunch (McDonalds or Chick-Fil-A were usually the winners because they have an indoor playground).

On Wednesday we go to the movies! Tinseltown theaters in Louisville offer $1 summer kids movies so we went there several times!

Thursday was our Library and Park day! We would attend story time at the library and then check out a ton of books (my girls LOVE stories) and then we would head on over to the park to play!

And on Fridays we went to another park, went swimming, or ran more errands.

Most weekends we go to the lake and play in the water and go on boat rides! We have had such a wonderful summer together and I'm so sad to see it come to an end...but I think it'll be a busy and fun year for us!!!
