This past Friday I took Gracie for her 3 month check-up.
Here are her latest stats:
23 1/2 inches long (between 50-75th percentile)
10 pounds 4 ounces (10th percentile)
Although Gracie is gaining weight, her reflux is causing the slow weight gain. She was on Zantac for the past month, and it seemed to be a little better, but not great. The doctor wants to try her on Prevacid (Tony informed me that he was on it when he was first diagnosed with reflux). The unfortunate thing about Prevacid is that it doesn't come in liquid form. We have to chop a pill in fourths...then smash that fourth in a little medicine dispensing cup and add a mL or 2 of warm water and then use the syringe to suck up all the water and medicine granules to give to her...ugh! But I will do ANYTHING if it means my baby will feel better!!
The spit-up is still crazy!! She spits up constantly...the pill shouldn't reduce the amount she spits up, but reduce the acid in it so it won't hurt her so bad. They said it could take up to 3 weeks for the Prevacid to work, so keep your fingers crossed!!
Developmentally she is doing fairly well...she is smiling, cooing and laughing :) Her little personality is starting to come out. She LOVES her big sister and enjoys watching her play!! Hannah is quick to kiss and love all over Gracie and she actually tolerates ALL of it!! I love it!!
Gracie HATES tummy time...HATES it!! The minute she is placed on her stomach, she puts her face down into the floor and screams. I asked the doctor if this was part of the reflux and she said no, that some babies just hate tummy time, but we are supposed to make her do it anyways. So she really isn't picking up her head all the way while on her belly which makes her a little delayed in that aspect. We've been trying to get her to take naps on her belly and sneak in a few minutes here and there. Hopefully she learns to love it soon!!
When the doctor put her on her back, held her hands and pulled her to a sitting position, she did awesome!! She said in that aspect she has the strength/head control of a 4 month old! CRAZY!!
I can't believe she is already 3 months old...the time is flying by so quickly!! Although she still does her fair share of crying and we are constantly trying to soothe her, there is definitely a light at the end of the tunnel. Her happy times are starting to get a little longer thankfully! When she smiles and laughs at us, it makes it all so worthwhile!! We love our little Gracie Grace!!!
Caught a smile during tummy time...very rare!!
